Multisystemic Therapy (MST) is an evidence-based, intensive family- and community-centered treatment designed for youth ages 12 to 17 who are at risk of out-of-home placement due to serious behavioral challenges, legal involvement, or mental health concerns.

MST works by addressing the complex factors that contribute to a young person’s difficulties—across their family, peers, school, and neighborhood. Therapists collaborate closely with caregivers to build skills and strategies that create lasting positive change. Services are delivered in the home and community, with therapists available 24/7 to support families when they need it most.

Key Features of MST:

• Home-Based Support: Therapists work directly in the home, school, and community.
• Small Caseloads: Each therapist serves only 5–6 families at a time, ensuring personalized care.
• 24/7 Availability: Families have access to support around the clock.
• Short-Term, High-Impact: Treatment typically lasts around 4 months.

Who is MST for? 
MST is ideal for youth who:

• Are at risk of or returning from out-of-home placement
• Have a history of aggressive behavior, substance use, or legal issues
• Experience chronic school absences or disciplinary actions
• May have co-occurring mental health needs

• 91% of youth remain at home after treatment
