Camper Jacob

Jacob of Ridgeway, Iowa, in Winneskiek County travels more than three hours each year to get to Easterseals Iowa Camp Sunnyside in Des Moines. Easterseals Iowa provides services for individuals with disabilities throughout the state of Iowa, including Camp Sunnyside!

Jacob’s parents Carol and Randy say, “Jacob talks about Camp from the minute we pick him up until we drop him off the next year.”

From swimming, making cinnamon rolls on a stick, and sleeping in a teepee, Jacob enjoys all Camp has to offer. He says he builds his muscles up from all of the Camp activities and really enjoys the dances and counselors, especially MacKenzie, Emma and Andy.

Carol says, “He just has a blast. The first year we sent him I was so worried he would be homesick, and he didn’t miss us a bit! All he talked about was how he went horseback riding, fishing, and had mud fights, so there was nothing that wasn’t perfect about it. The counselors are excellent; Jacob has so many awesome memories from Camp.”
